Guardian Elder Care is expanding our Human Resources team and has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to work on a full-time, contracted basis in our Greater Pennsylvania market!


The HR Market Generalist performs human resources-related duties at the professional level and will carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, workforce planning, labor relations, affirmative action and employment equity programs for their assigned sites. The position will over time provide HR oversight to a market of 15-20 skilled nursing facilities, but may start with a focus of one site to develop an HR structure.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations

. • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.

• Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints.

• Represents the company for any unemployment claims at assigned locations.

• Facilitates or provides training (including orientation) to the workforce.

• Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs in conjunction with others.

• Partner with Talent Acquisition to advertise open positions, may interview and screen candidates for position openings at assigned sites.

• Work with assigned sites to develop workforce plans and reduce agency expenses.

• Maintains working relationship with union officials and adheres to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions.

• Supports location management in investigating, answering and settling grievances.

• Supports HR leadership in responding to EEOC and NLRB charges.

• Conducts new-hire orientation.


Required competencies and skills include, but are not limited to:


• High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in human resource management or a related field or equivalent education, training and experience preferred.

• Three to five years of experience in human resource generalist role required with strong preference given to those with long term care experience.

• Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations preferred.

• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
